It's totally done!
Statistics:
yarn purchased: 630 grams Kauni effektgarn color EQ
started: 3/18/2007
finished: 4/20/2007
needles: 3.5mm/US 4 (combo of Inox grey circs and KPO circs)
amount of yarn actually used: approx 430 g (approx 1900 yds)
revisions: I added width because the largest size of the pattern was smaller than my width!
brilliant discovery:
there are approx 200 grams left over! that means more than enough for a pair of socks ... maybe even two pair? what a deal!
and here is the approval shot:
she was especially pleased with the choice of button:
I just love the cardigan. Found the Autumn cardigan as well, love it!! Wish I could knit in my sleep!! BUT, it is hard to get hold of Kauni yarn, I called all yarn stores in Houston yesterday, none have got it!! Do I have to order it online?? CANNOT wait to start!
Congrats with a new cardigan!

Hi! I found your blog from January One. Congrats on winning her little contest, by the way. (I wasn't even close.) Now I am mesmerized by your new cardigan. I have ordered from Astrid's Dutch Obsessions before, and she gives great service. I am bigger than a large, so I am thinking of just adding 24 stitches to the large size. Each size has an additional 24 stitches. Is that what you did? I'm trying to figure how much yarn I would need, so your shot of the leftovers is extremely helpful. My biggest fear would be to upsize the pattern and then run out of yarn! Leftovers would be a very GOOD thing, just as you stated. Anyway, you did a beautiful job on the sweater. It is inspiring me to attempt my first steeking project. And to think that this pattern is FREE! I can hardly believe it. Please e-mail me back, if you wouldn't mind, to answer my question regarding sizing.
Also, there are other colorways of this yarn, but the rainbow one is probably best for this project. I see one with mainly blues and greens, but that probably would not provide enought contrasting combinations to do the pattern justice. (Those colors would look good on me, though.) WOW! What a beautiful job you did on your cardigan!

Beautiful sweater--what an amazing project! I especially love all the orange.

Holy moly, that colorwork is amazing! I haven't seen anything like it in a long while. The color combinations are perfect, the edging is so delicate and pretty. Good luck with the socks!

Absolutely gorgeous Margaret. Only in my dreams could I knit something this beautiful in the short period of time in which it took you to knit. You inspire me to greater things. Thanks for sharing. If I make it to your area, I want to see this sweater. Cheers.

Wonderful!! You were so quick! More inspiration for me to pick it back up.
I got distracted on some lace and socks!
Have you seen Evelyn's latest? See here. http://www.twoswansyarns.com/cgi-bin/category.cgi?item=FiberTrends-S-2018&template=pattern
The yarn is lovely. It is very soft and yummy. The pattern is very cool. I just purchased the yarn and pattern from Karen at Two Swans.
You and I like a lot of the same things!!
Have a great week!

Yum. Another kbth lister weighing in. Very pretty, even if it does trend toward the yellows, but yellow is a happy colour, and that cardi makes me smile. I think you'll get lots of wear out of that. Cngrats.

Your sweater is great! The buttons are just the right ones for the sweater too.
The color combinations are just terrific. This yarn is wonderful.

Absolutely stunning! You did a very nice job in short order. When the link to the cardigan was first posted at KTBH, I was lukewarm, about both the cardigan and the yarn. Your photos have convinced me that it really is a lovely and potentially extremely versatile cardigan and the yarn is something quite special.

Spectacular. Can't wait to see the socks.

You've done a fabulous job.
Like you, I can't put this one down. It's just so fun to see what color combo comes up next.
Thanks for all the stats. I've been wondering if I'll run out of yarn but think I'll be ok.

It looks wonderful. I'm glad that Kiki approves of the buttons -- she did pick them out, after all.

Wow- you did that so fast. The buttons are great too.
Now I want to start mine.

That is truly beautiful and I cannot believe how quickly you have finished it. If it were mine I would never get it done that fast.
