Sit on It?

While I've been slaving away over the Bee Fields Shawl, to the distraction of anything else, this popped up on my computer.

For those of us who don't have backyards, it might be "just the thing"?

I'll be hopefully winding down on the shawl, in order to wind up more yarn for the HoneyBee Stole.

Rainy Day

So happy that the abominable heat has broken in nyc ... I have no problem with the rain today (better by far than the tornado in Brooklyn Wednesday!).

Lace knitting continues, but someone just sent me this, which should amuse some of you.

Rockstar son is in Vienna today - not Austria, but Virginia.  So, if you're bored tonight, AND in the neighborhood, head on over...

and yes, today's the birthday, but not the big one. but I DO share it with a number of famous people, including Mary!

He's Nothing if not Practical ...

DH (froggy, to those of you who are in the know) and I were discussing how to celebrate my upcoming birthday (not quite a big one, but I always try to be out of town on it) - and no, it wasn't today or yesterday, it's the 10th, in case you want to mark it down on your calendars ... we both thought that a couple of days at the beach might be a good idea, but, after checking around for the best price and the best options, we (actually he) decided that a new air conditioning unit for the bedroom would be a better decision.

So, I went down Broadway to Bed Bath & Beyond, pulled out my credit card, and had it loaded into a cab --- ah, the pleasures of living in the Big Apple! And yes, much much MUCH less expensive than a couple of days at the beach ---

And now, I'm about to quietly drift off to sleep in my chilly and comfy bedroom!

No pix of my sleeping quarters, however - it's a big fat MESS!!!!!!!

The Sopranos

I got a haircut today ... not my normal "shorn to the short hairs for summer", because Froggy and a few other people said to leave it long on top - I did it for him and them, and now seriously feel like I'm channeling Paulie:Paulie_hairstyle_001

Paulie_hairstyle_004 Paulie_hairstyle_005

and, seriously again, after the command performance party I have to attend Tuesday night, I'm going back and getting my "real" haircut - this one will be too hard to handle (as well as an attempt to take pix of one's hair without looking in a mirror...)
and stay tuned for an explanation of this pic:Paulie_hairstyle_007

WOWIE ZOWIE

Spent a serendipitous day with 3 good friends - knitting content will resume tomorrow.  I took this quiz thanks to Abundance of Lisa and here's my result:

MY NEW YORK AGE IS 38

This New York age puts you into a middle category between young and old (but not "middle age" per se). Be proud. You've got a nice balance between going out hard-core and staying in. You care about culture but also like some quiet nights. Keep it up, but think about expanding your horizons in the other directions. Head to Studio B or Anthology Film Archives for the first time, or finally check out the Village Vanguard or Elaine's for a dose of old-school NYC.

Does your age reflect how you're living? Let us know.

What's your New York age? Take the Time Out">

I could NOT believe it!

and here's a picture of Coco,

in the flying creature hereMoth_pix_005 ,
who came to rest on my kitchen table (styrofoam wig head included for scale)...

now here's the dilemma:  do I leave the little moth alone with all my yarn, or do I swat it?  Decisions, decisions!

If You Are Interesting...

So, I had to be midtown today on West 31st Street.  It was too close of a location not to stop in at School Products.
So, I walked in to the shop, and ran into a couple of interesting characters.

I happened to be wearing my koigu alligator wrap and carrying my recently started  cardigan... envy ensued.

So, I walked across W29th street, heading toward the uptown bus, and came across this:Interesting_worker_2

check closely - hopefully there's someone "interesting" around...
