Continuing on my annual autumnal quest to make my "nest" as user-friendly as possible, I embarked on a crusade to get all of the clutter out of the way.
So, first I bought this minimailmate and installed it (i.e. plugged it in) here:
then I spent the better part of the last two days creating this:

and another angle:(obligatory cat back for scale)

as of the disposal to the garbage outside, the unofficial weigh-in for this little deposit was 6.5 pounds!
I must tell you, there's something about shredding that's better than knitting! Can't really explain it, but it feels so ... um - satisfying? or, maybe it's a much healthier way of binging and purging? dunno ...
and now, to wax rhapsodic about the toy - having purchased numerous home shredders over the past couple of years and having had them all die of choking within the first 24-48 hours of obsessive shredding activity, I could not believe my good fortune in discovering the Mailmate - and no, the Staples people don't owe me anything. It just sits there on the kitchen counter looking like a microwave or toaster-oven-wannabe. It's totally heavy duty - eats paper clips, CDs, credit cards, and has a drawer that empties! Truly the best non-knitting purchase I've made in a number of years! (let's see how long it takes for me to get tired of it)
hmmm - I feel the urge for a labelmaker -
