CopyCat & Camouflage

It's been a while ... there's been lots of knitting, but no pix yet (unless you count the one here);
Squeaky_on_clapotis
Coco (now conveniently renamed Squeaky as in wheel, since Siberians are notoriously quiet and she never shuts up) is giving it the once-over.  This is the reincarnation of the Lion & Lamb Clapotis that ended up as a large ball of yarnLl_clap_frogged about six weeks ago.

I'm determined to finish it yet again ... so far no flubs, and I've got about three dropped stitch sections to go before the decrease part.

There's other knitting going on, but nothing to blog about (i.e. no good pix).

But I did order a cat bed or two thanks to Wendy's enabling.  Can you find the kitten in these pictures?

Of course you can!

Um ... maybe I should yet again rename her as "Waldo"?

another couple of cat pix

More_beautiful_kikithis is a fairly recent (about a month old) picture of the big girl, Kiki - she's still exquisite

and the little one (Coco)Coco_on_renatas_shoulder is still a PITA - see how she's grown???

and the knitting is progressing - there's some Khaki Cables, there's some Jackie E-S heart scarfing, and there's some reknitting of the Lion&Lamb Lakeview colorway Clapotis ...

pix not included, because you've seen them all before -

just remember that these are what sit on my lap 90% of the time, and yes, while I'm trying to knit -

The Ninth Life

October 8, 2006

We are sitting "cat shiva" today.

I'm actually sitting at my kitchen table with a literally dead cat underneath it.  We knew for days that TeddytummyTeddy Bear was going to leave us (read - she's 14 yrs old or so we think, have had her with us since 1996 - she was 3 or 4 or 5, according to the catrescuepeople from whom we got her).  It was a combination of old age, too much weight, diagnosed kidney failure back in July of this year, and, as of a week ago, after she had lost 4-1/2 lbs (huge loss down from 19 lbs to 15.4 lbs) in two months, a new diagnosis of diabetes (blood sugar level went from 176 in July 2006 to 400+9/28/06.  And this is Teddy Bear about 2-1/2 months ago, after her first lion cut,   and then  about 6 days ago:Lion_cut_growing_in_a_scant_two_months_l_1 and now, she's probably totally gone.  Sorta like "Arsenic and Old Lace"

Max left the house around 1030am to take Teddy Bear's body to the Humane Society of New York; he wouldn't take anything else with him, so I'm going to give the diabetes paraphernalia to my friend who has a diabetic cat.

I'll probably give the kidney cat food and supplements to the crazy cat woman across the hall, unless she pisses me off again; she spent $15,000 on chemo for one of her 12 cats a couple of years back, and then wouldn't contribute to the redoing of our communal elevator vestibule, saying that she "couldn't afford" the $50 per person we were asking for.

update:  since the people at the Humane Society were so wonderful, we donated all leftover cat food and supplies to them.

So ... Kiki (our "baby" Siberian) was getting a little lonely - and we did what any good parent would do, we got her a baby of her own!  Luckily, her breeder move to the area, and had a little bundle of joy just waiting to come to our house.

Introducing .... Colette, (we call her Coco)
Kitty_001

9 weeks old and already a New Yorker!

Kiki's a little suspicious ...

but we're sure that after she has a day or two to scope out the situation, they will be rolled up in each other all the time!

So, there IS a happy ending!
